Your Freedom Wall

What kind of a Nurse are You?
Use this Freedom Wall to tell us about yourself

Words are Powerful! It can either build or break.

According to the Bible, (James 3:5-6) "The tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body."

Encouraging words, kind words and the truth spoken have the capacity to build people up. Furthermore, we tend to remember the people who encouraged us along our journey through life and often fondly relate their words to others. It would make more sense to be remembered for encouraging others, than to leave behind a trail of bitter memories of how we hurt others with our words.

In connection with this, 4 mothns ago after working almost 5 years in a Medical Unit our Assistant Manager gave me a written evaluation of my performance as a Staff Nurse. The letter says,

April 29, 2011

"Sherrylyn, you have a very calm manner about you and never appear to be flustered. Your patients are complimentary of you and the nursing attendants enjoy working with you. You always show up for work on time with a smile on your face and ready to work. You prioritize your workload well and manage this workload which on a busy acute medical unit can be challenging. We appreciate your flexibility with your schedule and the extra shifts that you pick up for us. You present yourself as having a good handle on your work/life balance. Your quiet sense of humour is appreciated and it does not go unnoticed, the extra effort you put toward with social events on the unit - ex. the card making you did for IDAS and the unit, etc."

I felt really blessed to have employers like them. I appreciate their support and motivation to be an effective Nurse and become a better person.

You are more than welcome to share your feedbacks from others (Nurses, patients, Managers and other healthcare team members) about your Nursing practice.

Thank You for
Your Kind Words!

Nice work! It’s about time someone from our profession speaks out and do something about the dilemmas and concerns for IEN's here in Canada.
(Haninaduds, Canada)

Valuable knowledge & forums. Very good for students
and even professionals.
(Renee, USA)

Hi... I really like ur site very much. Its the first of it's kind
that I have seen, dedicated solely to nurses and nursing profession. I am from Nepal, a small country in South East Asia. I am a
student nurse awaiting results
of final year of 4 years(BSN). Some of the experiences
that you shared seemed like our own and really touched my heart. I am happy that if I need some guidance, I can contact you, and am sure I'll get positive response. Your site is a blessing to all nurses (and others as well).
Keep up your good work!
(Elisha, Nepal)

These are great nursing prayers.
