Evolution of Health Care System
Amazing Nursing Videos

I am glad to present to you nursing videos on how nursing and health care system evolved over the period of time. So sit back and enjoy!

Florence Nightingale

Founder of Modern Nursing

During the Crimean war, Florence Nightingale gained the nickname “The Lady with the Lamp,” deriving from a phrase in a report in The Times: (Wikipedia)

She is a ‘ministering angel’ without any exaggeration in these hospitals, and as her slender form glides quietly along each corridor, every poor fellow's face softens with gratitude at the sight of her. When all the medical officers have retired for the night and silence and darkness have settled down upon those miles of prostrate sick, she may be observed alone, with a little lamp in her hand, making her solitary rounds. (Cited in Cook, E. T. The Life of Florence Nightingale. (1913) Vol 1, p 237.)

Born: 12 May 1820
Florence, Grand Duchy of Tuscany
Died: 13 August 1910 (aged 90)
Park Lane, London, United Kingdom
Profession: Nurse and Statistician
Institutions: Selimiye Barracks, Scutari
Specialism: Hospital hygiene and sanitation
Known for Pioneering modern nursing
Notable prizes Royal Red Cross (1883)
Order of Merit (1907)

It's amazing to hear her voice. Wow! What a treasure.
This is what she is saying:

'When I am no longer even a memory, just a name, I hope my voice may perpetuate the great work of my life. God bless my dear old comrades at Balaclava, and bring them safe to shore. Florence Nightingale.' AV121/1 Recorded on wax cylinder in London 30 July 1890.

The next two videos depicts the story of a Nurse in the 1930s. You can observe the evolution of the uniform and nursing caps. Nursing is indeed an Art of Critical Thinking and Caring.

This video portrays modern Nursing in ER, Trauma and Intensive Care. The Generation X (aka Gen X), a term used to identify people born after the post World War II. Next is Generation Y which consists of those people born between 1980 and 1995. And the Millennials born 1982 to 2001
(Yes, the generation where I came into existence!)

The video below describes the vision of health care in the future. I wonder what Health Care System will be like in 30 to 50 years from now. With all the advancement of medical breakthroughs - anything can be possible.

Nice work! It’s about time someone from our profession speaks out and do something about the dilemmas and concerns for IEN's here in Canada.
(Haninaduds, Canada)

Valuable knowledge & forums. Very good for students
and even professionals.
(Renee, USA)

Hi... I really like ur site very much. Its the first of it's kind
that I have seen, dedicated solely to nurses and nursing profession. I am from Nepal, a small country in South East Asia. I am a
student nurse awaiting results
of final year of 4 years(BSN). Some of the experiences
that you shared seemed like our own and really touched my heart. I am happy that if I need some guidance, I can contact you, and am sure I'll get positive response. Your site is a blessing to all nurses (and others as well).
Keep up your good work!
(Elisha, Nepal)

These are great nursing prayers.
(satnurse, Canada)

Thank you so much for your time and guidance in addressing my concerns. I hope to keep in touch with you until I finally have the chance to work in Canada.
God bless you :)
(Salome, Philippines)

Just want to be a part
of your awesome site!!!
